Marie-Andrée Binet

Ph.D Student in Health Sciences, Université de Sherbrooke

I hold a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in health sciences from the Université de Sherbrooke. My master's research project, conducted under the supervision of Pre Caroline Fitzpatrick and Pre Mélanie Couture, documented the effects of screen time on global development in preschool children. I am currently pursuing my doctoral studies in health sciences.

My doctoral project aims to shed light on how different aspects of media usage - screen time, the content viewed through screens, and the contexts in which screens are used - can influence children's development and health. I'm mainly interested in the interactions between digital media and the cognitive, social and physical development of toddlers, as well as parental practices surrounding screens. Within the lab, I am involved in a variety of roles, from data collection to student mentoring.
